Purchasing a Senior Hosting server was the right choice. This article should cover the basics of setting up and configuring your Minecraft server, so that you and your community can start playing in a survival world straight away.

You should've received an email with instructions on setting up your account with our game panel, available at panel.seniorhosting.io - just click the link in the email to get started and, and once inside the control panel, select your server that you just deployed. If your server isn't online already, you can start it by pressing the Start button in the top right corner of the panel.

We automatically enable a username-based whitelist/allowlist on all servers created with us, so please run whitelist add <player> in the console to add your account (and others') to the list, replacing with your in-game username. If you're running a private server, we recommend keeping it enabled for security reasons, however you can run whitelist off in the console to disable it (this allows anyone with your server's IP to connect to your server!)

You can then copy the IP address and port to the top right of the console:

Upgrade your server with Senior Hosting

We understand your server's playerbase can fluctuate a lot, and so we allow you to easily scale your Minecraft server by upgrading or downgrading at any time.

Head to your Servers page on the billing panel, or click here.

Select the service which you wish to upgrade and double check you've selected the right one. Now press Upgrade/Downgrade in the left sidebar.

You should now be able to select a new plan for your server. Finally, proceed with the checkout process for your new plan, and your server will be adjusted once payment has been received. Feel free to open a ticket if you have any questions, and thanks for your business!

Add Simple Voice Chat to your Minecraft server

Simple Voice Chat is a great tool, allowing you to communicate with players in-game via proximity voice chat (meaning players are louder the closer they are to you). This can make your Minecraft experience even more fun, and you can see it in use in numerous videos like TommyInnit's YouTuber Hunger Games event.

We've made it super easy to install and the quickest way to do so is outlined below.

Visit the Simple Voice Chat page on Modrinth and download the corresponding version. If you're running a Pufferfish/Paper server, you'll want the "Bukkit" plugin file, or if you're running Fabric/Forge, the "Fabric" or "Forge" mod file.

Head to our game panel at panel.seniorhosting.io and select your server.
Select the "Files" button in the sidebar to navigate to the File Manager, and then click on the plugins folder if you're uploading the plugin version, or the mods folder to upload the mod.

Drag and drop the Simple Voice Chat file into your browser window to allow it to upload.

Restart your server to load in the new plugin/mod.

Point a custom domain to your Minecraft server

A domain like senior.gg can make your server look much more professional to potential players, and is easier to distribute than a traditional IP and port like 66.118.235.132:25565 - luckily, we've made the process of pointing a domain to your server easy.

| You can purchase domains from registrars like Porkbun (highly recommended), Cloudflare or Namecheap.

Log in to your domain's control panel and head to the page where you can manage DNS records. This might sometimes be called "Custom DNS" or just "DNS".
Create an A record with the following information:

Type: A
Name: The bit before the domain, such as play if you want your server address to be play.yourdomain.com - if you want players to connect via the root domain like yourdomain.com, most providers will require you to simply set this to @
Address: Your server's IP address, excluding the port (for example, 66.118.235.132)

| If your DNS is with Cloudflare, make sure the record is set to "DNS only" and the orange cloud is toggled off.

You do NOT need to follow the below step if you have purchased a dedicated IP.

Create an SRV record with the following information:

Type: SRV
Name: Same as before, the bit before the domain
Service: _minecraft

Allow Bedrock players on your Minecraft server

Recently, cross-platform Minecraft servers have become more popular, allowing Bedrock players to join Java Edition servers - something that was never possible before. We've made it simpler than ever to make your server cross-platform:

Head to our game panel at panel.seniorhosting.io and select your server.
Select the "Settings" button in the sidebar, then click the dropdown under the "Change Software" heading.

Choose the "Pufferfish + Geyser" option then press the "Save" button, followed by enabling the "Reinstall Server" toggle.

Press "Change Software" and your server will reinstall with Geyser and Floodgate installed, the two pieces of software which allow Bedrock players to connect.
Bedrock players can now connect to your server using the same IP and port as Java players. Enjoy!

Upload a custom world to your Minecraft server

Accepted Answer

Uploading a custom world to your Minecraft server is a simple process.

Head to our game panel at panel.seniorhosting.io and select your server, then press the Stop button to shut it down.
Select the "Files" button in the sidebar to navigate to the File Manager, and then delete the folder called world (as well as world_nether and world_the_end if applicable), assuming that's the world you want to replace.

If your world is currently a folder and not a .zip file, compress it to ensure it's correctly uploaded to the panel and to speed up the upload process.

Upload the compressed world to the File Manager, then decompress it and rename the created folder to world.

Start your server again, and it should load in as the main world!
