Getting started with your Minecraft server

Purchasing a Senior Hosting server was the right choice. This article should cover the basics of setting up and configuring your Minecraft server, so that you and your community can start playing in a survival world straight away.

You should've received an email with instructions on setting up your account with our game panel, available at panel.seniorhosting.io - just click the link in the email to get started and, and once inside the control panel, select your server that you just deployed. If your server isn't online already, you can start it by pressing the Start button in the top right corner of the panel.

We automatically enable a username-based whitelist/allowlist on all servers created with us, so please run whitelist add <player> in the console to add your account (and others') to the list, replacing with your in-game username. If you're running a private server, we recommend keeping it enabled for security reasons, however you can run whitelist off in the console to disable it (this allows anyone with your server's IP to connect to your server!)

You can then copy the IP address and port to the top right of the console:

Upgrade your server with Senior Hosting

We understand your server's playerbase can fluctuate a lot, and so we allow you to easily scale your Minecraft server by upgrading or downgrading at any time.

Head to your Servers page on the billing panel, or click here.

Select the service which you wish to upgrade and double check you've selected the right one. Now press Upgrade/Downgrade in the left sidebar.

You should now be able to select a new plan for your server. Finally, proceed with the checkout process for your new plan, and your server will be adjusted once payment has been received. Feel free to open a ticket if you have any questions, and thanks for your business!

Add Simple Voice Chat to your Minecraft server

Simple Voice Chat is a great tool, allowing you to communicate with players in-game via proximity voice chat (meaning players are louder the closer they are to you). This can make your Minecraft experience even more fun, and you can see it in use in numerous videos like TommyInnit's YouTuber Hunger Games event.

We've made it super easy to install and the quickest way to do so is outlined below.

Visit the Simple Voice Chat page on Modrinth and download the corresponding version. If you're running a Pufferfish/Paper server, you'll want the "Bukkit" plugin file, or if you're running Fabric/Forge, the "Fabric" or "Forge" mod file.

Head to our game panel at panel.seniorhosting.io and select your server.
Select the "Files" button in the sidebar to navigate to the File Manager, and then click on the plugins folder if you're uploading the plugin version, or the mods folder to upload the mod.

Drag and drop the Simple Voice Chat file into your browser window to allow it to upload.

Restart your server to load in the new plugin/mod.

Cancel your server with Senior Hosting

We're sorry to see you go, but we won't hold it against you! If your service isn't working as intended or it's not what you expected, please open a ticket and let us know before proceeding with cancellation.

Head to your Servers page on the billing panel, or click here.

Select the service which you wish to cancel and double check you've selected the right one. Now press Request Cancellation in the left sidebar.

Briefly let us know the reason why you're cancelling your service, and select a cancellation type:

Immediately - the selected service is terminated within 24 hours of receipt of the cancellation request. No refunds will be provided for any of the billing period that is outstanding, as per our Terms of Service.

Next Due Date - the selected service is terminated on the next invoice due date.

Access your VPS via a VNC console

Accepted Answer

We've made it super easy to access your VPS via VNC, allowing you to connect to it should you lose internet connectivity on it (I've done this too many times myself!)

Head to our VPS panel at cloud.seniorhosting.io and select your VPS.
Select the "Options" tab at the top, followed by the "Enable VNC Access" button.

You can now click on "Browser VNC" to access a live console of your server, which will likely require you to enter the root password to log in

| If you haven't set a root password, you can forcefully do so via the "Root/Administrator Password" section which should have a "Reset Password" button. This isn't guaranteed to work, but should do most of the time if you're on the latest version of your installed operating system.

We suggest disabling VNC access once you're finished, which you can do by pressing the "Disable VNC Access" button.

Why is my server still "Pending"?

Thanks for your order. Your service may show as "Pending" for a few reasons:

Your invoice might not be paid yet. Sometimes PayPal or card payments can take a few minutes to process.
We could still be setting up your service. This shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes, and most Minecraft servers can be deployed in a few seconds.
Your invoice could have been (most likely falsely) marked as fraudulent. Please open a ticket.

In the rare event that your order is still "Pending" after 30 minutes, please open a ticket and we'll look into your issue.
